Chiropractic Adjustments in Overland Park, KS
Chiropractic Adjustments
Stiff joints and restricted movement can make everyday activity feel harder than it should. At Rebuild Chiropractic, we use precise adjustments alongside movement-based rehab to restore mobility and help you keep it long after your visit.

What Are Chiropractic Adjustments?

A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled, targeted input applied to a joint that is not moving the way it should. The goal is to improve how that joint moves, reduce protective muscle guarding around it, and give your nervous system better information about where your body is in space.
Most people are surprised by how specific the process is. We do not adjust everything, and we do not adjust the same way for every person. A thorough exam tells us which joints are actually restricted, which ones are compensating, and whether an adjustment is the right tool for you at all.
At Rebuild Chiropractic in Overland Park, adjustments are never the whole plan. They open a window where movement feels easier, and we use that window for rehab and strength work so the change holds. That is the difference between feeling better for a day and moving better for good.
What Adjustments Actually Do
An adjustment is a tool, not a treatment plan. Here is what it contributes and where it fits alongside the rest of your care.
Restore Joint Motion
Targeted input helps a restricted joint move through its full range again.
Reduce Muscle Guarding
Tissue around a stiff joint relaxes, which lowers pain and makes movement easier.
Improve Body Awareness
Better joint input helps your nervous system coordinate movement more accurately.
Open a Window for Rehab
Easier movement means the strength work that follows is far more effective.
Adjustments create change quickly, but change without reinforcement fades. Pairing them with rehab and progressive loading is what turns short-term relief into lasting results.

Dr. Luke Bergner is a fantastic coach and guide. I can’t say enough good things about his approach. He truly listens, educates, and tailors his input and exercises to meet me where I am, while encouraging me to challenge myself. He builds confidence and strength! He’s thoughtful, flexible, encouraging, and thorough. I have autoimmune symptoms that were causing pain and limiting my lifestyle. Dr. Luke asked questions, learned, and provided me with options so that I could adapt to my symptoms day by day and still move forward. I’m grateful and glad that I went to see Dr. Luke!

I am very pleased with the results I got from my experience working with Dr. Luke on some back/hip issues. I was leery with his different approach to address my discomfort but his treatment really does seek to rebuild you and give you a long-term fix. He is extremely flexible and worked around some crazy travel plans I had during our time together to make sure I still got the results I wanted. I cannot recommend enough at least taking a phone call with him to discuss any long-term, lingering pain issues you might have to see if you'd be a good fit for one of his programs.

I went to see Dr. Luke at the recommendation of my sister to see about some SI Joint pain that was limiting my strength and mobility. This was about two weeks from a CrossFit competition, and I didn’t know if I was going to be able to compete as well as I knew I could. Within those two weeks, Dr. Luke worked with me to regain my strength and mobility so that I was able to compete and compete well. I would recommend him to anyone not only because of his expertise, but also his determination to keep people moving and to keep them doing what it is they enjoying doing.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. Our goal is the opposite. Adjustments open a window where movement feels easier, and we use that window to build strength so the change holds on its own. Most patients move toward independence, not an endless schedule.
It should not. Most people describe it as a quick pressure release followed by a feeling of looseness. We explain each one before it happens, and if a technique is not comfortable for you there is almost always another way to get the same result.
It is gas releasing from the fluid inside the joint, the same as cracking your knuckles. It is not bones moving back into place, and the sound has no bearing on whether the adjustment worked.
Usually yes, and often it feels better. We will tell you if we want you to modify anything for a day or two, but for most active adults training continues as normal.
For most people, yes. The screening we do before any adjustment exists to catch the situations where it is not appropriate, and when that is the case we say so and use a different approach.
Only when the exam calls for it and you are comfortable with it. There are effective alternatives if you would rather not have your neck adjusted, and we will use them without any pushback.
It depends on what we find, but you will get an honest estimate after your evaluation rather than a package sold up front. Most active adults notice meaningful change within the first few visits.
Not on their own. An adjustment can make an upright position easier to reach, but posture holds because of strength and habit. That is why adjustments sit alongside rehab in every plan we build.
Sometimes, but not always. Very irritated tissue often responds better to gentle movement and load management first. We will make that call based on your exam, not a default protocol.
No. You can book directly, and we start with a free consultation so you can find out whether we are the right fit before committing to anything.
