LOW BACK PAIN CHIROPRACTOR IN OVERLAND PARK, KS
Low Back Pain Treatment
Sitting, lifting, getting out of the car — low back pain touches everything. We treat what's driving it and rebuild a back that tolerates real life.
What Is Low Back Pain?
Low back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek care, affecting the muscles, joints, discs, and nerves of the lumbar spine. It can appear as a dull ache, stiffness, sharp pain with certain movements, or discomfort that comes and goes over weeks or months.
The underlying cause can vary from person to person and may involve joint dysfunction, disc irritation, muscle strain, or weakness in the muscles that support the spine. While episodes can range from a minor annoyance to pain that disrupts work and sleep, effective treatment begins with identifying the source of the problem instead of simply masking the pain. A comprehensive evaluation helps determine what is contributing to your symptoms and guides the most appropriate course of care.
At Rebuild Chiropractic, we focus on restoring healthy movement, reducing stress on the lumbar spine, and helping your body heal naturally. Our goal is not only to relieve your current symptoms but also to improve function and reduce the likelihood of future flare-ups.

What Causes Low Back Pain?
Back pain is usually a load and capacity problem rather than damage. Identifying which factor is driving yours is what makes a plan work.
Load outpacing capacity
A heavy lift, a big project or a jump in training asked for more than the back was ready for.
Prolonged positions
Long hours sitting or standing keep the same tissues loaded with no variation.
Weakness and control
Weak hips and trunk leave the low back doing work it wasn't designed to absorb.
Lost mobility
Stiff hips or mid-back force the low back to make up the movement they aren't providing.
It develops when the joints, discs, muscles, or nerves of the lower back become irritated or overloaded. The result can be pain, stiffness, and difficulty with everyday movement.
How We Treat Low Back Pain
Instead of masking symptoms, we focus on restoring healthy movement and rebuilding tolerance for load — one-on-one with Dr. Luke Bergner, DC, at our Overland Park office.
Free consultation
A short call about what hurts, how long it's been going on, and what you've already tried. Free, no obligation. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you and point you somewhere better.
What you leave with: an honest answer on whether we can help.
Comprehensive evaluation
Full history plus movement, orthopedic and strength testing — because where it hurts is rarely where the problem started. You get the findings and your first treatment on the same visit.
What you leave with: a diagnosis, a plan, and treatment the same day.
A plan you can actually follow
Hands-on care to get you moving now, progressive loading so it holds. Built around your sport, your job and the hours you actually have — not a generic protocol.
What you leave with: exercises that fit your week, not someone else's.
Coaching between visits
Recovery doesn't only happen in the office. Every exercise comes with video in a private coaching app, and we adjust it as your symptoms and schedule change. Message us when you're stuck.
What you leave with: no guessing between appointments.
Build strength so it stays fixed
Most care stops when the pain does. We keep going until the area is stronger than it was before, so the same flare-up doesn't show up again next season.
What you leave with: a body that holds up without us.

Dr. Luke Bergner is a fantastic coach and guide. I can’t say enough good things about his approach. He truly listens, educates, and tailors his input and exercises to meet me where I am, while encouraging me to challenge myself. He builds confidence and strength! He’s thoughtful, flexible, encouraging, and thorough. I have autoimmune symptoms that were causing pain and limiting my lifestyle. Dr. Luke asked questions, learned, and provided me with options so that I could adapt to my symptoms day by day and still move forward. I’m grateful and glad that I went to see Dr. Luke!

I am very pleased with the results I got from my experience working with Dr. Luke on some back/hip issues. I was leery with his different approach to address my discomfort but his treatment really does seek to rebuild you and give you a long-term fix. He is extremely flexible and worked around some crazy travel plans I had during our time together to make sure I still got the results I wanted. I cannot recommend enough at least taking a phone call with him to discuss any long-term, lingering pain issues you might have to see if you'd be a good fit for one of his programs.

I went to see Dr. Luke at the recommendation of my sister to see about some SI Joint pain that was limiting my strength and mobility. This was about two weeks from a CrossFit competition, and I didn’t know if I was going to be able to compete as well as I knew I could. Within those two weeks, Dr. Luke worked with me to regain my strength and mobility so that I was able to compete and compete well. I would recommend him to anyone not only because of his expertise, but also his determination to keep people moving and to keep them doing what it is they enjoying doing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Spinal manipulation combined with exercise is a well-supported first-line treatment for most low back pain. We focus on finding what is driving your pain and treating that, rather than only easing symptoms.
Keep moving. Gentle activity like walking consistently outperforms bed rest for low back pain, and prolonged rest tends to make the back stiffer and more sensitive. We will show you what to modify rather than telling you to stop.
It depends on your diagnosis, the severity of your symptoms, and your goals. Most people notice meaningful change within the first few weeks, and we reassess as you go rather than locking you into a long plan.
Discs do not actually slip, but they can bulge or herniate and irritate nearby nerves. Your exam findings tell us whether a disc is likely involved, and the majority of disc problems improve well without surgery.
Usually not at the start. Imaging often shows disc bulges and wear in people with no pain at all, so scans can mislead more than they help. We refer for imaging when red flags appear or progress stalls.
It is rarely harmful, but it usually moves the segments that are already mobile rather than the restricted ones causing trouble. The relief is temporary, which is why the urge keeps coming back.
No, done well it is one of the best things you can do for a back. Most deadlift-related pain comes from load or technique errors rather than the lift itself, so we coach your hinge and rebuild your tolerance instead of banning the movement.
Usually yes, often at reduced volume while things settle. Running is generally well tolerated by backs, and we would rather adjust your mileage than stop a runner completely.
Recurring episodes usually mean the underlying cause was never addressed, often a mix of joint restriction and a lack of strength and endurance in the muscles that support the spine. Building that capacity is how you break the cycle.
Seek urgent medical care if you have loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin or inner thighs, progressive leg weakness, fever, unexplained weight loss, or pain following a significant trauma.
