RUNNING GAIT ANALYSIS IN OVERLAND PARK, KS

Running Gait Analysis

Knee pain at mile three is rarely a knee problem. We film you running, test what your body can actually do, and tell you which of those two things to fix first.

What is running gait analysis?

A running gait analysis is a structured look at how you move when you run. We film you from several angles, slow it down frame by frame, and look at what your hips, knees, ankles and trunk are doing at the moments that matter.

Video alone is only half the picture. Plenty of gait findings are not habits at all, they are the only option your body has given how strong or mobile it currently is. So we pair the footage with hip, calf and trunk testing to separate what you are choosing to do from what you are forced to do.

We also look at the numbers that predict injury more reliably than form does: how much you are running, how fast that changed, your cadence, your shoes and how much hard running sits inside your week.

You leave knowing what is actually driving your symptoms, what to change now, and what to leave alone. Not every quirk in your stride needs fixing, and chasing the harmless ones is how runners lose seasons.

Good reasons to use running gait analysis
Knee pain that shows up mid-run
Recurring shin, calf or Achilles pain
Hip or IT band pain on longer runs
Heel pain in your first steps
One side always gets injured
Training more but getting slower

When we use running gait analysis

Most running injuries trace back to a handful of things, and only some of them are your form.

Load that climbed too fast

Mileage, pace or hills increasing faster than your tissue adapts is the most common cause of running injury by a wide margin.

Strength that can't hold the position

When the hip or calf fatigues, your mechanics change late in a run. Filming only the first minute misses it entirely.

Mobility limits at the ankle or hip

If the joint does not have the range, your body borrows it from somewhere else, usually the knee or low back.

Cadence, stride and footwear

Overstriding and very low cadence increase load per step. These are worth changing when the testing says so, not by default.

Don't guess which one is yours — booking takes a few seconds.

Dr. Luke Bergner is a fantastic coach and guide. I can’t say enough good things about his approach. He truly listens, educates, and tailors his input and exercises to meet me where I am, while encouraging me to challenge myself. He builds confidence and strength! He’s thoughtful, flexible, encouraging, and thorough. I have autoimmune symptoms that were causing pain and limiting my lifestyle. Dr. Luke asked questions, learned, and provided me with options so that I could adapt to my symptoms day by day and still move forward. I’m grateful and glad that I went to see Dr. Luke!

I am very pleased with the results I got from my experience working with Dr. Luke on some back/hip issues. I was leery with his different approach to address my discomfort but his treatment really does seek to rebuild you and give you a long-term fix. He is extremely flexible and worked around some crazy travel plans I had during our time together to make sure I still got the results I wanted. I cannot recommend enough at least taking a phone call with him to discuss any long-term, lingering pain issues you might have to see if you'd be a good fit for one of his programs.

I went to see Dr. Luke at the recommendation of my sister to see about some SI Joint pain that was limiting my strength and mobility. This was about two weeks from a CrossFit competition, and I didn’t know if I was going to be able to compete as well as I knew I could. Within those two weeks, Dr. Luke worked with me to regain my strength and mobility so that I was able to compete and compete well. I would recommend him to anyone not only because of his expertise, but also his determination to keep people moving and to keep them doing what it is they enjoying doing.

TOP QUESTIONS FROM YOU

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a fast runner for gait analysis in Overland Park?

No. Most people we film are running for fitness, a first half marathon or to stay healthy. The analysis is about how you move and how much you are loading it, not your pace.

What should I bring to a running gait analysis?

The shoes you actually train in, running clothes you can move in, and a rough idea of your weekly mileage. If you have older shoes you rotate, bring those too.

Will you change my running form?

Only if the testing says a change will help. Many stride quirks are harmless, and forcing a new pattern on a body that cannot hold it usually creates a new problem.

Can gait analysis fix my knee pain?

It tells us what is driving it, which is the part most people skip. The fix is usually load management plus targeted strength, and the analysis is what makes both specific instead of generic.

Is running gait analysis worth it if I'm not injured?

Yes, if you are ramping up for a race or have a history of the same injury returning. It is a lot cheaper than losing eight weeks of training.
